Meeting on the train,Barclays Center,Bedford, Bedford stuyvesant

Bed-Stuy- many have their opinion on Bedford-Stuyvesant but from they day i stepped foot in my neighborhood i felt at home, with the few years of living hear i know the area like the back of my hand, I bet there is not one person that is form new york that dose not know about Bed-Stuy, Weather they heard if from Spike lee movie Crooklyn or from rappers Mos Def, The Notorious B.I.G., Jay-Z, Lil Kim, Big Daddy Kane and so on but bed stuy prior to thease artist we still hold a varity of talents.

Kids swimming in Bed Stuy back in the day.

Waking up in the morning at 6pm is not the easiest thing as a teenager's traveling to Harlem 125th St from Brooklyn Utica ave, witch by the way is 14 stops. At least we get some sleep right. But before meeting up at utica  the five us first wake each other  up on this chat called kik and if you do not wake up believe you are getting left . We all live in different parts in brooklyn some further than others so in order to meet up with us at Utica some of the girls leave their house earlier to meet us at Utica. The train ride to 125th and back is always interesting there is not one dull moment when we are on the train if there is we are either all tired, other than that we keep our train rides interesting.

Map from NYPL Collections of the area around Utica Avenue station

Barclays Center is like the new madison square garden of Brooklyn, barclays is home of the Brooklyn nets and right now is the biggest attraction to Brooklyn. barclays was developed by one of Brooklyns  Bruce Ratner http://basketball.ballparks.com/NBA/BrooklynNets/

STOP being okay with failure

Stop being okay with failure words that stood out to a 17 year old girl in the year of 2014. Ashamed i would say, but its better that it clicked to me now and not thirty years down the road. With having many goals and wanting to succeed in life, failure should not be in my vocabulary but hey it happens. After many years of bad grades getting bashed by parents and teachers it never clicked to me that i have to take responsibility for my actions and decide what i want in life. Either that or i let someone map out my future for me and be oblivious to the fact that time waits for no one and when am i going to get my act together. These words stood out to me in the least expected place, I thought i would most likely hear the words stop being okay with failure a couple of years down the line being yelled at me by my mom or something. But instead it snapped me back into reality when i was day dreaming in the middle of class and my teach yelled it to the class for our excessive talking and not being responsible. Being jolted awake this opened to my eyes and i asked myself are you tired yet? From middle school to high school i have a series of bad grades, but i want to get into college funny right? So i decide it’s time for some alterations in my life. Weather it’s wakening up early to get to school on time, online studying for all the days i was in a daze in class or i pay attention and graduated out of high school i at least owe that to myself.

I could have learned this even walking through the city of New York, we learn things everyday unexspecdely.

Letter to a stranger

"It took me getting into a lot of fights before I was diagnosed with PTSD. I have something called ‘hypervigilance.’ I get really nervous around people. Especially people from the Middle East."
"What were some traumatic things that happened to you?"
"I was in a vehicle when a mortar round exploded in front of us, and we fell into the crater and got trapped. There was a burning oil rig near us, so it was like being in a microwave. And we couldn’t get out. And I also saw a lot of hanky shit. Mostly from our side. Everyone was really revved up from 9/11. We did a lot of bad things. I saw decapitations, and that was our guys doing it."
"What happened?"
"We were supposed to bring POW’s back to the base. But instead we gave them a cigarette to calm them down, and told them to get on their knees. One of our guys was 240 lbs, and he’d taken this shovel we’d been issued, and he’d sharpened one of the sides until it was like an axe, and he could take off somebody’s head with two hits."
"How many times did you see that happen?"
"Three."

So hi stranger, i read your story and i would just like you to know that your not alone.
I realize that sometimes things get hard and majority of the time things happen in life that
are uncontrollable, but there is happiness in life and you can get threw what your going through you can't go anywhere but up at this point and the National center for PTSD if you want help.http://www.humansofnewyork.com/post/78559360096/it-took-me-getting-into-a-lot-of-fights-before-ihttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mSDYFVsWqAQ

Keyboard Shortcut Practice

I love spoken word so i googled "spoken word" and then clicked on the wikipedia page about  spoken word. Here's some info i copied

The art of spoken-word poetry has existed for many centuries. The Ancient Greeks included spoken-word poetry in their Olympic Games.[1] Similar exercises were encouraged in political and social discourse in what was then an ancient and thriving form of democracy.
